The workshop program consisted of physical training, improvisation and creative classes, and the participating students thought about the theme of the program, "The identity of Asian artists." Under the guidance of Leila McMillan, a professor at the Hong Kong University of Performing Arts, the students agonized over their movements for five days, and on January 26 (Friday), they presented a showcase at the dance studio of the Hong Kong University of Performing Arts.
Sungkyunkwan University X Hong Kong Performing Arts University Dance Creation Workshop Program continued exchanges at our university's dance department from June 24th (Mon) to 28th (Fri), 2024 as a follow-up work. The five-day program conducted physical training, improvisation and creation classes under the guidance of Professor Kim Nai of the Department of Dance.
First, for physical training, Countertechnique classes, which can only be learned at Sungkyunkwan University, were held in Korea, and in improvisation and creation classes, a deeper exploration was conducted on the "identity of Asian artists." Participants presented the "Creative Process Sharing Showcase" on June 28 (Friday) at Dance Studio 1 in the annex of our university's Daffodil Hall, and students' presentations on the program process and audience questions were held.
Professor Kim Nai said, "The experience gained by visiting each school twice in Korea, Hong Kong, and each other's countries is a very valuable time in that we can see the movements of students from different cultures, interact emotionally, get to know, understand, and communicate with ourselves and others."
Meanwhile, the Department of Dance plans to develop a variety of international exchange programs so that students can interact, collaborate, and expand their possibilities with students from other cultures.
