Drawing on a wide range of frameworks and discourses, the focus of this course is on the exploration of dance as art, as a career and its role in society. These perspectives will be examined from its historical roots to is aesthetic, cultural and philosophical evolution into contemporary society. This course objects to cultivate creative thinkers to perceive, examine and evaluate different points of view through in-depth examination of contemporary discourse of dance. The course is delivered through; interactive lectures, individual and group tasks, group discussions, reading and analysis of literature, viewing and analysis of dance works. By the end of the course, the students should be able to: Demonstrate in-depth comprehension of contemporary discourses of dance. Demonstrate critical engagement with the work of key dance practitioners and their practices. Through this class, students will develop their ability to connect with diverse members of society through art and lay the groundwork for them to emerge as world-class artists. The significance of this class lies in its approach, not viewing disabled art merely as a welfare concept but fostering a new and creatively Interdisciplinary art that embraces the unique characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of all members of society through hospitality and coexistence. Interdisciplinary Art is a term coined to describe a unique and creative art form that did not exist before in Korea. This class attempts to present a fresh approach by analyzing existing disabled art.
