The Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project Group participated in the 2024 HUSS Convergence Camp, a humanities and social sciences convergence talent development project hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Education.
This camp, held from July 8 (Mon) to 11 (Thu) at Splash Resort in Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, was a camp-style education program where humanities and social sciences convergence talents could gather in one place and develop creative convergence thinking. 884 people (104 faculty members and 780 students) from about 40 universities participating in the Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project participated.
At the 2024 HUSS Convergence Camp, the HUSS Hackathon Program and the HUSS Academy Program were held under the theme of ‘Humanities and Social Sciences Wisdom Changes the World. Where Creativity and Innovation Begin, Humanities and Social Sciences Base Camp.’
The HUSS Hackathon program was held in the form of a competition to find innovative and practical solutions to major issues that future society will face under the slogan of ‘Future-Agora Ideas for a Sustainable Future’.
In addition, the HUSS Academy program provided students with opportunities for mutual learning through excellent lectures in the five major themes of the project (digital, environment, risk society, population structure, global culture) and various fields (humanities and social sciences + science and technology). In addition, various participatory programs, interview coaching operations, and problem-solving ideation were carried out through the HUSS-SQUARE program.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Center also recorded various academic achievements at this camp. The HUSS Hackathon program won the HUSS Business Council Chairman Award, achieving the Excellence Award for two consecutive years following the Korea Research Foundation Chairman Award last year, and all participants in the HUSS Academy graduated.
Director Park Hyung-jun of the business division said, “Through this convergence camp, participating students were able to foster creativity, convergent thinking skills, and basic knowledge to solve future social problems beyond the barriers of departments and grades.” He added, “The Sungkyunkwan University Convergence Camp will continue to provide advanced academic programs that humanity and future society demand, as well as differentiated non-curricular programs to solve regional problems.”
