This course aims to facilitate theoretical and clinical understanding of group therapy which is one major form of psychotherapy. To achieve this goal, major theories, and treatment principles and techniques will be covered, as well as specific issues related to group therapy. This course is intended for advanced students in psychology who have taken at least the course [Introduction to Psychology] and ideally [Counseling Theories and Practice].
PSY3047 Consumer and Advertising Psychology 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 - No
This course covers theories on consumers' information processing and their decision making processes, and various psychological, sociological, and cultural factors on consumer behavior. Students will learn a number of advertising methods to influence consumers' purchasing behavior, and how to measure effects of the advertisement.

Students will learn the stressor-strain relationship, the core element of the stress process, and various internal and external factors affecting this core relationship. The ultimate purpose of this course is to apply this knowledge to organizations in order to prevent or reduce job stress. This class will be delivered through lecture and students' project and presentations. This is for those who have completed [Industrial Psychology] or [Organizational Psychology].
PSY3049 Psychology of Intergroup Conflict and Reconciliation 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 - No
This course reviews major theories of social psychology on intergroup relations and behavior. Students will also learn recent empirical findings on intergroup conflict, stereotyes, intergroup discrimination, and multiculturalism. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and think critically about how to create psychological and social conditions to promote intergroup harmony and collective flourishing.

This course covers various theories and methods to scientifically diagnose the structure, function, process, competency, technology, culture, efficiency of organizations. Organizational diagnosis is the first step to implement planned changes, and requires systematic knowledge of diagnosis models, diagnosis methods, and feedback processes of diagnosis results.
PSY3051 Mental Health Self-care 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 English Yes
Self-care is essential in mental health care. Among various meanings of self-care, this course will primarily focus on handling emotional well-being, which is at the core of psychological distress. Self-care is important in all aspects of mental health management, ranging from mild symptoms(e.g. mild depression or anxiety) to managing severe mental illnesses(e.g. psychosis). While various psychological therapy theories propose ways to improve mental health, cognitive-behavioral therapy stands out as the most evidence-based treatment for various mental health difficulties, offering practical skills that people can apply in their daily lives. This course will be based on the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders(UP), a form of CBT. UP primarily aims to train individuals in using various emotion regulation techniques in their daily lives, based on theory and scientific principles, to manage emotional distress effectively. Compared to traditional CBTs, UP targets transdiagnostic emotional difficulties, which are the most common psychological sufferings of humans. Many studies have shown the efficacy of UP as interventions for clinical problems and as prevention programs to help individuals from developing emotional disorders. Therefore, this course aims to introduce students to various techniques, theories, and research associated with UP. Additionally, it will provide opportunities for students to practice and apply these skills.
PSY3052 Development of Human Behavior and Brain 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 English Yes
The goal of this course is to (1) have a lifespan perspective on how human behaviors develop, and (2) expand our understanding of humans by including behavioral and neuroscientific aspects. Although human development deals with how our behaviors change from birth to death, existing developmental classes have mainly focused on early stage of one's life, a lack of later stages, which makes it challenging to fully understand our development. Plus, despite the increasing neuroscientific research with various age groups, the existing classes have mostly addressed behavioral aspects only, possibly leading to our limited understanding of human behaviors. This course aims to have students understand human with a multifaceted perspective and to develop convergence talent by addressing important but not yet covered in existing developmental classes(e.g. later-life development, brain research).

This course is an introduction to computational approaches to human cognition in an advanced level. This course covers computational models of knowledge representation, learning and reasoning founded on artificial intelligence and Bayesian framework. Students mainly learn materials from lectures, in-class activities and homework. This course is designed for graduate students and highly motivated 4th year undergraduate students, who are well equipped with statistics and computer programming.

Students will learn the principles of functional (fMRI, EEG) and structural (dMRI, sMRI) neuroimaging methods, as well as data analyis procedures and how these methods can be utilized to further our understanding of traditional psychology research topics. Course is designed incorporate a combination of lecture and hands-on data analysis sessions for graduate students and highly motivated undergraduate students who had completed [Cognitive Psychology] and [Statistical Analysis in Psychology]. Students are encouraged to take [Brain and Mind] or [Neuroscience of Human Behavior] before signing up.
