This course explores elements of group work practice in clinical and educational settings and includes experiential activities to build the group worker's skill/competence in leading groups. Students will participate in a brief, personal growth small-group to grasp important aspects related to becoming skilled grup leaders. These aspects include: planning and preparing to lead the group; understanding leaders roles and responsibilities; facilitating group dynamics to promote positive changes in participants; co-leading; designing group work curricula; and considering the ethical issues inherent in therapeutic group work.
SWF3059 Theories and Practices for Clinical Social Work 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 - No
This course is an in-depth study of one o fthe practice theories that is widely used in social welfare practice. Specifically, we focus on one theory during the semester to acquire sufficient theoretical basis, and based on this theoretical foundation, we identify and evaluate specific programs developed to intervene in psychological and social problems and individual cases experienced by real clients,and practicepractical intervention techniques. Through this course,student swill cultivate the basic skills of applying the theory to the entire course of social welfare practice, namely, assessment, intervention and evaluation, along with the acquisition of in-depthunderstanding of the theory, as well as the cultivation of the ability to understand how individual theor ies meet the values, philosophies and ethical standards of social welfare and to critically examine how they can be used with clients from various backgrounds.

Social economy generically refers to economic organizations and their activities that are not aimed at profit-seeking. The goal of this course is to give students a comprehensive understanding of social economy. To this end, this course deals with the following topics. Part 1 looks at the meaning and necessity of the social economy, as well as its history in order to materialize the concept of the social economy. Part 2 deals with theories related to social economy. Approaches of livelihood security systems, various discussions on welfare mix and welfare pluralism, the dilemma of collective action and its solutions, civic participation and social capital, and expansion of the concept of publicity. Through this part, students will have an opportunity to have an analytical and theoretical view of the social economy. Part 3 of this course deals with the reality of social economy from a comparative perspective through various social economy organizations such as cooperatives, social enterprises, village enterprises, and non-profit organizations.

Social workers work with clients to promote their change and growth, but the time they can spend with clients, the provision of professional intervention, and resources are supported and limited by policies, laws, institutions, delivery systems and agency regulations. This course aims to develop capabilities to analyze dynamic issues arising from professional intervention in practice by social workers based on specific issues at social welfare sites and actual intervention cases. Furthermore, in order to strengthen and exercise the capacity of social workers, we will seek alternative bases on philosophical, theoretical and institutional levels to identify specific points that need to be improved and improve them. Through this, students will critically review and redefine the role and identity of social welfare workers as professionals with the eyes of future generations.

Finally, students will acquire the basic principles of intervention and a few representative approaches through various educational methods.

This course presents not only a psychosocial perspective on human behavior that spans the life cycle, but also study concepts and substantive information about persons in environment transactions which occur in groups, communities and organizations. For the former, it explores the basic processes of normal human growth and development compared to abnormal human behavior with particular attention to human behavior in individuals and families in response to crises. Biological, psychological and sociological factors which affect behavior from childhood through the later adult years are presented. For the latter, emphasis is placed on the structure and dynamic processes of groups, organizations, communities and societies.
