Professor Ahn Sang-hyuk Published <불안은 감각을 잠식한다>
Ahn Sang-hyuk, a professor of Film, Television and Multimedia, has published <불안은 감각을 잠식한다>(Sungkyunkwan University publisher '사람의 무늬') that analyzes anxiety from the perspective of popular culture.
Professor Ahn notes the amazing rise of the entertainment sector where modern popular culture is concentrated, such as movies, dramas and music, and he says, "The entertainment area, which had been neglected as non-mainstreamers in the past, has become the most admired area in the present cultural age that puts sense and sensibility at the forefront."
Professor Ahn saw this phenomenon as a reversal of the value judgment between sensibility and reason that has continued since Plato and said we should get out of an idea defined by the past philosophy as imagination is blocking rational transformation. And he saw there was "anxiety" between imaginative ideas and rational transformation.
Therefore, Professor Ahn saw ‘anxiety’ as an important clue to exploring modern popular culture. He reinterpreted the idea of Kierkega, which pioneered the meaning of anxiety, and analyzed anxiety from the perspective of popular culture and published it in the book.
Professor Ahn Sang-hyuk's major books include 『중국 6세대 영화, 삶의 본질을 말하다』(2008), 『불안, 키에르케고어의 실험적 심리학』(2015), 『불안은 감각을 잠식한다』(2020).
