Professor Koo, showing human right's trend in Korea through Big Data method

Professor Jungwoo Koo (a Professor in Dept of Sociology) and Jaesung Choi (a Professor in Dept of Global Economics) analyzed news data of 26 years and fount out that, “The public has increasingly paid more attention to human rights and the results of the research are proved in figure.” This research has examined 11,4000 news articles stating ‘human right’ published by four major media groups in Korea.
Looking into the Korean 4 main presses, the analysis team found that the total number of articles related to the human rights has distinctively increased. The number of articles boomed up to 5,379 articles last year, which is 4.3 times bigger than that in 1990. In 2012, the number got the highest record by publishing 7,768 articles. The research team said “The appearance of the concept “Human right” has steadily enlarged, and in-depth articles can be easily found. From these trend, we could see that now people recognize the significance of human right and they normally habituate the human rights discourses.”
It has made a great stride in analyzing human rights because it is the first time to investigate the "Human right" through Big data in Korea.
